Set up a QR code so walk-in clients can check in and join your queue

Last reviewed 2026-07-11

What this helps you do

Give walk-in clients a QR code they can scan to join your walk-in queue right away, without an app, an account, or a phone call.

Before you start

  • You need owner access — QR Check-In lives in the owner admin portal and isn't available to team members.

Steps

Step 1: Open QR Check-In

In the admin portal, go to Bookings → QR Check-In (/admin/qr-checkin).

Step 2: Let your walk-in card load

The page reads your business's own check-in code and shows it as a walk-in card, with the QR code, a scan line, and the check-in link written out underneath it.

Step 3: Copy the link if you need it on its own

Use Copy Link on the card if you want to share the check-in address by itself — for example in a text message.

Step 4: Print the card

Use Print Sheet to print the card. Since this uses your browser's print dialog, you can also choose "Save as PDF" there if you want a digital copy instead of a paper one.

Step 5: Display it where walk-ins arrive

Put the printed card at your front desk, in your window, or wherever clients who haven't booked ahead will see it.

What success looks like

  • Your walk-in card on /admin/qr-checkin shows a live QR code and a working check-in link.
  • When someone scans it, they land on a page where they choose a service (and a preferred pro, if you offer that), then enter their name and contact details to join your walk-in queue.
  • New walk-ins from the QR code show up on your walk-in list for your team to seat.

Common problems

  • Is this the same as my regular booking link? No. QR Check-In is for people standing in front of you right now — scanning it adds them straight to your walk-in queue. It's different from your storefront booking link, which clients use to schedule a visit ahead of time. See Find and share your personal booking link for that link.
  • I want a QR code for taking payment, not check-in. That's a separate feature — Checkout QR, also under Bookings — which your team uses at the counter to collect payment. It isn't for checking clients in.
  • There's no download button on the walk-in card. The walk-in card only offers Copy Link and Print Sheet, not a direct image download. To keep an image file, print the card and choose "Save as PDF" in your browser's print dialog.
  • The card won't load. Refresh the page — a failed read retries automatically a few times before showing an error message.
